Train with the School of Medicine to be a street medic during the Republican National Convention July 18-21.
Street medics will provide first aid to people involved in direct actions at the convention.
Training will be held July 8-10. A 20-hour training program will be offered to individuals of any experience level. In addition, an eight-hour option will be available to medical professionals who would like to volunteer as street medics.
Training topics will include:
- Street medic history;
- Initial assessment/identifying life threats;
- Scene safety/police tactics and weapons;
- Basic first aid for the wide range of things commonly encountered at protests;
- Integrating with EMS;
- Street medics ethics and protocols;
- Preventive/aftercare;
- Self care
- Skill drills; and
- Scenarios.
