With July comes long days, summer fun, and rising temperatures. One way to stay cool is to indulge in ice cream and, here in Cleveland, there are plenty of places to grab a sweet treat. On Wednesdays in July, we’ll take you on a tour of some local favorites.
The first stop on our tour is Mitchell’s Ice Cream, a familiar spot for our campus community given the business’s location in the Uptown neighborhood. Founded by brothers Pete and Mike Mitchell in 1999, Mitchell’s Ice Cream incorporates sustainability and fresh, quality ingredients into its mission.
Made with many locally sourced ingredients, the ice cream menu (including sorbet and yogurt) features flavors such as caramel fudge brownie, fresh mint chocolate chip, chocolate peanut butter cup and black raspberry chocolate chunk. Mitchell’s also offers a seasonal menu, which this summer includes strawberry jalapeno, wildberry crumble, lavender honey, campfire s’mores and more. Looking for something a little different? Mitchell’s also has ice cream and pies, sundaes, and malts and milkshakes.
Want to grab a scoop—or two—to try it out for yourself? If you’re on campus, you need not go far; just head to Uptown to give it a try (you can even use CaseCash). Or, if you’re looking for an adventure, take the RTA’s Red Line to Ohio City to stop by the Mitchell’s Ice Cream flagship location, where the ice cream is made onsite. Check the Mitchell’s website for hours, locations and the full menu.
