Three School of Medicine scholars honored by American Spinal injury Association

Three School of Medicine scholars were recently honored by the American Spinal Injury Association.

The board named Greg Nemunaitis, professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation, one of two new directors in December of 2014. Nemunaitis will begin actively filling his new role at the association’s meeting in Montreal in May.

Hunter Peckham, the Donnell Institute Professor and director of the Functional Electrical Stimulation Center, was named the 2015 recipient of the association’s Lifetime Achievement Award. He will be presented the award on May 14.

Anne Bryden, a PhD candidate, will receive the second annual Neilsen Foundation Allied Health Professional Research Award for her proposal, “The Development of a Novel Upper Extremity Assessment Protocol for Acute Tetraplegia.” She will be honored with the $25,000 one-year award at the May 14 meeting.
