The season of giving and gratitude is here again, and GivingTuesday is back on campus today (Dec. 3). This annual crowdfunding drive highlights the broad range of student organizations that enhance the Case Western Reserve experience—and allows university community members to make gifts to fuel positive change.
Nearly 140 student organizations are participating in this year’s one-day campaign at CWRU, and a gift can support club sports teams, community assistance projects, professional networking initiatives and more.
Join the effort by making a gift, offering a match or sharing your reason for giving using the #GivingTuesdayatCWRU hashtag on social media.
Learn about three groups who hope to expand their impacts on campus with the support of community participation on GivingTuesday.
CWRU Fencing Club
The CWRU Fencing Club provides competition and camaraderie for fencers of all skill levels. Competing against both club and varsity teams, the club allows students to learn a unique sport and hosts a yearly tournament.
“Your support will help us continue to hire a professional coach, purchase better equipment to support new and current members, and continue attending multiple tournaments every semester,” club member Nicholas Cavrell said.
CWRU Community Pantry
Food insecurity is a reality for many, and your support could help combat this struggle in our campus community on GivingTuesday. The CWRU Community Pantry offers free perishable food and shelf-stable food items, hygiene products, and cleaning products to all students, faculty, staff and community members.
“A heartfelt thank you to our donors!” pantry representative Ayowole Samuel Ajiboye said. “Your generosity enables the CWRU Community Pantry to provide essential groceries and hygiene products, ensuring our campus community can thrive without the burden of food insecurity.”
Society of Women Engineers
This educational and service organization aims to advance gender equity and inclusion in engineering. “Donor support allows us to cover the cost of attendance for our members who attend the Women in Engineering National Conference,” said society president Saloni Baral. “This conference is a phenomenal opportunity for our members as we learn so much from the speakers, are able to network with professionals in the industry, and some of our members have secured internship and full-time opportunities that kickstart their careers.”
