The Office of the Provost, the Begun Center for Violence Prevention Research and Education, and the Office of Emergency Management will host a threat symposium titled “Are you Ready? Responding Effectively to Campus Violence” on Friday, Oct. 25, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. in the Thwing Center ballroom.
The symposium will include a discussion with Marisa R. Randazzo, a national expert on threat assessment and targeted violence, titled “Threat Assessment: What It Is and the Role It Plays In Higher Education.”
William Modzeleski, associate assistant deputy secretary of the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools, also will lead a discussion, titled “New DOE/FEMA Guidelines on Preparedness for Campus Violence/Emergencies.”
The symposium will close with a panel titled “What is Being Done at CWRU.” The panel will feature: Peter Poulos, chief risk management officer and chief litigation counsel; Charles Rozek, dean of the School of Graduate Studies; Jes Sellers, director of University Counseling Services; and Arthur Hardee, director of university security.
