Kevin Inouye, assistant professor of theater, recently had a book published titled The Screen Combat Handbook. The book uses practical instruction, examples, interviews and illustrations to show how effective fight sequences can be put on-screen. Inouye includes sections on pre-production planning, on-set protocol, fight choreography, shot planning, technical tricks, acting choices, cinematography, impactful editing and sound design.
The Screen Combat Handbook is Inouye’s second book. He has also written a chapter in Physical Dramaturgy and several journal articles for The Fight Master, the journal of the Society of American Fight Directors.
