“The Stories We Tell About Our Youth: Separating Fact from Fiction”

How are our young people perceived and talked about by public leaders and in public spaces? How are they portrayed by the media—especially those in or at risk of entering the justice system? How do these narratives shape the legal and policy environment, and how might harmful narratives be countered? These and other questions will be explored to help us understand how to discern harmful rhetoric from the reality of our youth in Northeast Ohio.

Join Leah Winsberg, Esq., Senior Policy Attorney and Cyan Blackwell, Youth Justice Policy Associate at the Children’s Law Center; Gabriella Celeste, J.D., Policy Director at the Schubert Center for Child Studies, CWRU; and Jocelyn Rosnick, Policy Director at the ACLU of Ohio for this free, public webinar to learn how to elevate youth voice for action through credible data, research and lived experience.

Hosted by the Schubert Center for Child Studies, this event will take place virtually Friday, March 1, from noon to 1 p.m.
