“The SAFE Project: Innovations in Community Programming and Prevention for Youth in Cleveland”

The Schubert Center for Child Studies and the Master of Public Health program will collaborate to host a seminar with Lisa Ramirez, associate director of pediatric psychology at the MetroHealth System and associate professor of psychiatry at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Ramirez will present “The SAFE Project: Innovations in Community Programming and Prevention for Youth in Cleveland” Tuesday, Feb. 27, from noon to 1 p.m. via Zoom.

Ramirez will discuss how youth in Cleveland face a variety of social drivers negatively impacting their health, education and overall community. Fortunately, youth in Cleveland also live among a vibrant network of organizations and a health system focused on addressing toxic stress and facilitating resilience through protective factors. Ramirez will explore how an innovative prevention program aimed at promoting engagement in the arts and seeking meaningful connections in their environments can protect youth from the impacts of stress, trauma and discrimination.
