The Dean of Students Office provides leadership and vision in the development of programs and initiatives essential to students’ basic needs. The AmeriCorps member will work directly with the Dean of Students Office to identify and provide much-needed resources to students who experience basic needs barriers to their academic success. Essential functions include:
- Host and attend programs to increase awareness of the basic needs resources on and off campus
- Connect students to resources as well as to the Dean of Students Office for Case Management Support
- Conduct focus groups with university partners, identity groups/centers, and student organizations to identify needs and gaps for support
- Hold office hours within the Physical Resource Center (PRC) to assist with resource connection and provide holistic support within the pantry
- Assist with any shipments from the Greater Cleveland Food Bank and the Hunger Network to the PRC
- Be a committee member of the Basic Needs Task Force
- Attend all required training and conferences, monthly AmeriCorps member meetings, and participate in required AmeriCorps service projects
Minimum qualifications include:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Have a high school diploma and some college experience
- Have the ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen
- Have and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Have a working knowledge of computers and proficiency working with email, internet browsers, Microsoft Word and Excel, and ability to learn internal database programs
- Have the ability to lift up to 20 pounds
- Be a US Citizen
Position Start Date: Monday, January 8, 2024
Position End Date: May 31, 2024 (approx. 22 hours per week, a minimum total of 450 hours by the end of service)
Living allowance: $5,825 total before taxes to be paid monthly
Education Award: $1,824.07 at the completion of the service term
