Kelvin Smith Library invites the Case Western Reserve University community to celebrate the International Year of the Periodic Table this week by participating in an online challenge.
The contest begins today (Oct. 28) and will run through Friday, Nov. 1 and will include the opportunity to win prizes.
To participate, individuals can answer the daily challenge of five questions related to chemical elements. The challenges will be open from 8 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday. Each correct answer is valued at one point and daily scores will be tallied.

To close out the celebration, there will be an event Friday, Nov. 1, at 4 p.m. in Kelvin Smith Library’s Freedman Center Collaboration Commons on the first floor.
Alan Rocke, Distinguished University Professor and the Henry Eldridge Bourne Professor Emeritus, will give a lecture on the history and significance of the periodic table. The event also will include an awards ceremony and reception.
