MyApps will move to a new platform Friday, June 6, at 6 p.m. While the MyApps interface will look very similar, the client on your computer and the storage location will change. This will not affect how you access MyApps via the web portal. It’s important to take steps now to ensure continued access. This transition is a significant step toward enhancing the performance and accessibility of university resources for everyone.
The key changes will be:
- Platform update: MyApps will migrate to a new platform, requiring users to download the new client, Horizon.
- Storage location:
- The “H Drive” storage will be replaced by Microsoft OneDrive. While this change offers enhanced collaboration capabilities, it will require users to adjust how you store and access your files through MyApps.
- Department share drives: Your access to existing department share drives will remain the same.
- SQL and CAD users: The “H Drive” will remain accessible and be the default save location for large data files associated with SQL and CAD applications to optimize loading times.
What users need to do:
- All users: Make sure your Google Chrome sync is turned on and enabled.
- Laptop and Desktop users: After June 6, uninstall the Citrix Workspace desktop client.
- Thin client users: No action is required on your part. All the necessary background configurations will be made to ensure continued access to MyApps. Simply log in as you normally do after the transition.
- Enter all financial data by June 5: To avoid any complications with the new system and ensure you meet all deadlines, ensure all data is entered by Thursday, May 29.
- Download the new Horizon client: Windows and MacBook users should download the Omnessa Horizon client. A step-by-step guide is available on the [U]Tech website. Follow these instructions by Thursday, June 5, to ensure uninterrupted access to MyApps.
- Get your storage ready:
- Ensure “H Drive” files are organized: Spring clean your storage by putting all of the files and folders you created in your “H Drive” into the “Documents” folder. When signing into MyApps after June 6, your files will sync with OneDrive, keeping the same directory structure.
- Begin planning for OneDrive: Start adapting your workflow now to accommodate the shift from the “H Drive” to Microsoft OneDrive/SharePoint for saving, accessing and sharing files. (Update this with information to a web page on how to access OneDrive)
Taking some time to install the Horizon client and organizing your files before June 6 will help ease the transition. After June 6, you may access MyApps using the new Horizon client.
[U]Tech understands that the change from the “H Drive” to Microsoft OneDrive will require some adjustments to established workflows, and appreciates the campus community’s proactive efforts in adapting to these changes. More information and resources will be shared in the coming weeks via email and articles in The Daily.
