Students volunteer by raking leaves and cleaning up at the Lake Erie Nature Center

Take the service challenge and become a Civic Engagement Scholar

The Civic Engagement Scholars program, offered by the Center for Civic Engagement and Learning, is endorsed by President Barbara R. Snyder and is designed to promote and recognize meaningful student involvement in the Cleveland community.

Scholars commit to complete 50 community service hours, with at least 20 hours at one site during the academic year. To enhance their learning, scholars also participate in education and reflection about civic engagement, community issues and social justice.

Upon successful completion of the program, scholars are awarded a Certificate of Distinguished Service and attend a reception.

The program is open to both undergraduate and graduate students.

Apply to be a Civic Engagement Scholar; applications are due by Sunday, Sept. 23.
