Take Administrative Professional Series courses in September, October

Interested in professional development? Information Technology Services (ITS), in partnership with the Division of Finance and the Department of Human Resources, will offer three classes in the Case Western Reserve University Administrative Professional Series (CAPS) during September and October. Each class requires advanced registration, which can be completed at case.edu/its/caps/register.

CAPS provides professional development training to university employees on the policies and procedures that direct their stewardship of university funds.

Financial Reporting and Reconciling

Financial Reporting and Reconciling will be held Sept. 24 from 1 to 3 p.m. in Clapp Hall, Room 305. The course will introduce the three ways to run financial reports from PeopleSoft Financials. The instructor also will cover recommendations for the management of financial activities at the departmental level, and best practices for reconciling monthly reports.

ABCs of Financials

ABCs of Financials will be offered Oct. 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Sears Building, Room 341A. The course provides participants with a basic understanding of the accounting structure, system and concepts used to manage the daily financial transactions and flow of money at the university. In this class, participants will:

  • Review basic accounting concepts and how they relate to fiscal responsibilities at CWRU
  • Discuss chartfields and how they function in the CWRU accounting system
  • Define the role of the General Ledger

Effective Interpersonal Communication

Effective Interpersonal Communication will be held Oct. 27 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. in the first floor conference room of the Tinkham Veale University Center. The class will provide an overview of core elements of communication and allows participants to informally assess their own communication skills. Participants also will gain tools for increasing their communication competency and ability to manage conflict.
