The Refugee Outreach Collective at CWRU undergrad (ROC@CWRUundergrad), from Feb 24-Mar 10, is hosting a donation drive for the U.S. Committee of Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI), a local refugee resettlement agency that has been welcoming newcomers to Cleveland since 1916.
There will be two donation boxes for the drive, with one in the atrium of Thwing Center and the other in the front lobby of the CWRU School of Law. Items that can be donated include the following (NOTE: these items should be new or new-like quality):
- Kitchen supplies (except for sharp items such as knives)
- Bedroom: Blankets, comforters, sheet sets, pillows
- Bathroom: Heavy shower liners, shower rings, bath mats, bath towels, hand towels, washcloths, rugs, brooms, mops
- Cleaning: Hand soap, dustpans, buckets, floor cleaner, toilet bowl cleaner, toilet brushes, dish soap, trash bags, vacuums (new only), cleaning wipes
- Laundry: Detergent, hangers, clotheslines, clothespins
- Lamps: Floor and table (working order),
- Bags: Reusable grocery bags
- Appliances: Tea kettle (stovetop and electric), coffee pots (stovetop and electric), toasters, pressure cookers, rice cookers (in working order)
- Paper products: Towels, tissues, and toilet paper
- Toiletries (especially body wash)
- Baby: Baby and children’s shampoo, baby lotion, crib sheets, diapers – especially size newborn
- Children: Books that teach the alphabet and early math skills, soccer balls, baby dolls with all skin colors, backpacks with school supplies (rulers, scissors, calculators, paper, folders, tape)
Urgent needs include:
- Brooms
- Mops
- Body wash
- Backpacks
- School supplies
