The summer barbecue season will kick off Wednesday, June 8, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with a new location between Kelvin Smith Library and the Tinkham Veale University Center south entrance.
The barbecues will be held June 8, 15, 22 and 29; and July 6, 13 and 27. Due to the Republican National Convention, there will be no barbecue Wednesday, July 20.
New pricing and menu structures also will debut this summer.
Each week’s menu will feature a beef hamburger/cheeseburger combo for $8 per person or a vegetarian black bean burger combo for $6 per person. There also will be a special weekly protein option each week, beginning with bratwurst. The special protein prices will vary.
In addition to a protein, each meal will include a bag of chips, a “chef’s choice” side, condiments, lemonade and bulk water.
Bottled water and sodas will be available for $1.50 each.
A guest artist will perform at the barbecue each week, beginning this week with Americana band Hey Mavis, featuring the university’s own Ed Caner, director of the Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Programs and instructor of physics.
In case of rain, the barbecue will be held inside the Tinkham Veale University Center.
Cash, credit cards and CaseCash/CaseCharge will be accepted at the barbecue entrance.
Bon Appetit Management Co., the Office of Summer Programs, Plant Services and Campus Services sponsor the barbecues.
