Sixth-year PhD student Stephanie Swedik and Professor Alan Levine of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine’s Department of Molecular Biology and Microbiology recently co-authored an article published in The Journal of Immunology.
Titled “Th17-derived cytokines synergistically enhance IL-17C production by the colonic epithelium,” the article describes the capability of Th17-derived cytokines to synergize to induce the expression of IL-17C by intestinal epithelial cells, which identifies a novel inflammatory amplification loop in the gastrointestinal tract between epithelial cells and Th17 cells.
