Art and dental medicine. For Catherine Kenney, these two areas seamlessly intertwine. After dabbling in a variety of fields, she found that dentistry perfectly blends her love of art, working with her hands and pursuing a career in medicine.
“There is a balance with dentistry,” said Kenney. “It’s not just fixing the problem. You have to fix it artfully.” She enjoys the challenge of delivering a result that is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing.
Kenney is president of the DMD Class of 2023 and secretary for Delta Sigma Delta. She’s also committed to collaborating with her colleagues at the Health Education Campus through the Interprofessional Education student committee. Outside of the classroom, Kenney enjoys singing, dancing and theater. At her home in New Orleans, she and her family foster and train Weimaraners.
After graduation, Kenney has been offered an opportunity to return to the dental clinic in New Orleans where she previously worked as a dental assistant and first discovered her passion for dentistry.
