Football team breaks through banner at start of game

Student Saturday

Student Saturday will take place Sept. 1 at the Spartans’ home-opening football game against the University of Rochester at DiSanto Field. Several events and promotions for Case Western Reserve University students will take place over the course of the day.

Field goal contest

The football game will begin at 7 p.m. At halftime, a student drawn at random will have a chance to kick a 35-yard field goal. Should the student make the kick, they will win a new 40-inch flat screen television.

Students can register for the event beginning at 6:30 p.m. and up to the end of the first quarter; participating students must be present during the second quarter for the drawing. The registration table will be located outside Wyant Athletic & Wellness Center and students must present their CWRU ID.

Varsity Club

Additionally, the Varsity Club at the Wyant Athletic & Wellness Center will be open to all students, with free snacks, beverages and a great view of the game from the balcony.

Student organization tunnel

Student groups can represent their organizations with signs and banners at the game and help form the tunnel that the football team runs through as they enter the field. Student groups interested in participating in the tunnel should meet under the scoreboard at 6:40 p.m.

Other events at Student Saturday include:

  • New Provost and Executive Vice President Ben Vinson III and his children taking part in the coin toss
  • Performances by the Spartan Marching Band and dance team
  • Upperclass Tailgate from 5 to 8 p.m. in the House 6/7 courtyard with games and food
