“The Carbon Footprint of a Life Sustaining Treatment” NovemberNov 16 2021 09:00am - 10:00am

The Mary Ann Swetland Center for Environmental Health will host a talk titled “The Carbon Footprint of a Life Sustaining Treatment” Nov. 16 from 9 to 10 a.m. Ashwini Sehgal, the Duncan Neuhauser Professor of Community Health Improvement at Case Western Reserve University and co-director of the Center for Reducing Health Disparities, will give the presentation.

He will discuss the results of a study that quantified greenhouse gas emissions related to hemodialysis, as well as sources of variation across facilities, treatments and emission contributors. Sehgal will help the audience understand the magnitude and variation of hemodialysis emissions, which may help identify measures to reduce the environmental impact.
