“Redlining, Racism, Communities and Health: An Academic Evaluation on Education and Health Disparities Caused by Systemic Racism” FebruaryFeb 19 2021 01:00pm - 02:30pm

The Diversity and Inclusion Committee at the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing invites members of the Case Western Reserve University community to “Redlining, Racism, Communities and Health: An Academic Evaluation on Education and Health Disparities Caused by Systemic Racism.” The event, part of the MLK Celebration Events throughout February 2021 at CWRU, will include a viewing of the short film How Race Settled the Suburbs, which explores the practice of redlining and its effects on health and health disparities. 

Following the video, there will be a panel discussion on how communities and other social determinants of health influence health outcomes.

Panelists will be:

  • Melissa Kline, senior vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer for The MetroHealth System;
  • Bernadette M. Kerrigan, executive director of First Year Cleveland at CWRU School of Medicine;
  • Sonya D. Moore, director of the Nurse Anesthesia Program and assistant professor at CWRU’s Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing; and
  • Adrianne M. Fletcher, assistant professor and assistant dean of diversity and inclusion at CWRU’s Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Science.

The event will be held Friday, Feb. 19, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Register for the event.
