The Department of Religious Studies will host a lecture on “The Religious Exoticism of Transformational Festivals” on Wednesday, March 4, at 4:30 p.m. in Ballroom C of the Tinkham Veale University Center.
Amanda Lucia, author of forthcoming book White Utopias, will present the lecture. Lucia’s lecture will discuss the history of spiritual festivals such as Burning Man, Bhakti Fest, and Wanderlust and disseminate the racial relationships and overwhelming whiteness associated with these events.
