The Department of Sociology will host Whitney Pirtle, assistant professor of sociology and the McArthur Foundation Chair in International Justice and Human Rights at the University of California, Merced, for a talk Friday, April 30, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. 

Pirtle will present “Racial Capitalism and Other Intersecting Systems as a Root Cause of COVID-19 Death Gaps.” There will be a 45-minute Q&A session following the talk.
