It’s International Games Week this week (Nov. 7-13), and to mark the occasion, we sat down with Jack Chipman, president of Case Western Reserve University’s student club Tabletop Empire.

The club provides a gathering place for those who wish to participate in various forms of tabletop games; members can be found playing more than 50 different games and expansions, including Warhammer 40,000, Settlers of Catan, Lords of Vegas, Splendor, Scythe, Dominion, Betrayal at House on the Hill, Coup and Cosmic Encounter.

“Players and games range from casual to competitive and we are constantly introducing new games and expansions based on recommendations from our members,” Chipman explained.

Tabletop Empire—open to any interested CWRU student—currently has 30 members who meet weekly at 1 p.m. on Saturdays on the second floor of think[box]. Chipman said all are welcome to play games, make friends and unwind.

“I like seeing the games that people bring in for us to play,” Chipman added. “The fact that they’re bringing them in means they enjoy them and they want other people to try the game out as well so that’s a lot of fun.”
