Support of Undergraduate Research and Creative Endeavors (SOURCE) will hold four seminars on responsible research conduct throughout the fall semester.
The first seminar, titled “Communication and Collaboration,” will be held Thursday, Sept. 24, at 4 p.m. in Nord Hall, Room 410. This session will provide undergraduate students with information on the relationships they should expect to form with principal investigators, graduate students, post-doctoral researchers and staff in research settings.
A seminar titled “Data Management” will be held Thursday, Oct. 15, at 4 p.m. in Nord Hall, Room 400. This session will provide information on data acquisition, analysis, security, confidentiality, sharing, custody and retention.
SOURCE will hold a seminar on “Lab Safety” Thursday, Nov. 19, at 4 p.m. in Nord Hall, Room 410. The seminar will cover inherent risks to those working in laboratory settings, including with viruses, radiation and other potentially harmful substances. Students will learn how to protect themselves and what sort of training they should have.
The final seminar in the series on “Humans and Animals” will be held Thursday, Dec. 3, at 4 p.m. in Nord Hall, Room 410. The seminar will address responsibilities of working with humans and animals to ensure humane care.
Upon completion of this seminar series, students will receive the Undergraduate Conduct of Research Certificate.
