Scientists in a computational imaging lab at Case Western Reserve University are hoping that a novel computerized approach that looks for cancer signals outside the tumor area itself will be a historic leap in diagnosing cancer using just routine CAT scans.

“Solving Health Care Challenges with Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence”

The BrainX Community and Case School of Engineering’s Center for Computational Imaging and Personalized Diagnostics (CCIPD) will host a session titled “Solving Health Care Challenges with Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.”

The session will be held Tuesday, June 11, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in Nord Hall, Room 356.

Ashish Khanna from the Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Rakesh Shiradkar, a research associate in the CCIPD, and Sharona Hoffman, the Edgar A. Hahn Professor of Law and co-director of the Law-Medicine Center, will speak during the event.

They will discuss the multifaceted challenges facing health care and the promise of machine learning and artificial intelligence in solving them, as well as the ethical and legal issues with application of artificial intelligence in health care.
