Cassi Pittman Claytor, associate professor in the Department of Sociology, was recently awarded the A. Wade Smith Award for Teaching, Mentoring, and Service from the Association of Black Sociologists.
Pittman Claytor was selected as a result of her work helping African American individuals launch their careers, which is often challenging due to a dearth of mentors to assist them in navigating the institution.
