The Bill of Rights Defense Committee/Defending Dissent Foundation recognized Rhonda Y. Williams, founder and director of the Social Justice Institute, as its June 2016 Patriot Award winner.
Williams was recognized for her work to respond to racism, police violence and systematic injustice.
She addresses these issues with the Greater Cleveland Civil and Human Rights Coalition.
The Patriot Award is given each month to an individual who has made significant contributions to his or her community to restore civil liberties and the rule of law.
