Could banning noncompetes help close the gender gap?

Politico: Ayesha Bell Hardaway, professor of law and director of the Social Justice Institute, talked about how women, particularly women of color, are disproportionately impacted by the restrictions of noncompetes, which often curtail their career growth opportunities and can put them into debt—or worse—if they’re found in breach of the agreements. “The reality that they were being asked to sign these agreements in exchange for a very mediocre compensation was baffling to me,” she said.
