Social Justice Institute to host ”Race, Food and Justice” conference April 25-26

Race, Food and Justice ConferenceThe Social Justice Institute, Environmental Health Watch, Growing Power and Rid-All Green Partnership will cosponsor “Race, Food and Justice: Analyzing Urban Agriculture through a Social Justice Lens.”

The two-day conference will begin with a film screening of Soul Food Junkies on Thursday, April 25, 7 to 9 p.m. in Strosacker Auditorium.

The second day of the conference, Friday, April 26, will take place in Ford Auditorium. From 6 to 8 p.m., various presenters will examine health-related topics, from Mistinguette Smith of the Black Land Project on the “history of black farming and national perspective” to Greg Brown of PolicyBridge on “the true wealth of health.” From 8 p.m. to 9 p.m., there will be an open question and answer session moderated by Rhonda Williams.
