Members of the Case Western Reserve University community are invited to join the Social Justice Institute for the Social Justice Institute Think Tank Oct. 27–29.
This Think Tank is centered on the theme of “A Balm for What Ails Us: Respect. Renew. Reimagine.” The goal is to provide space for envisioning what liberation looks like for communities historically and currently marginalized by oppressive systems. Organizers recognize that we cannot envision until we have healed, and we cannot heal until we have acknowledged our history. Their ambition is to foster conversations and reignite passion for social justice across the Cleveland community.
Attendees can choose from among a variety of presentations, including a Thursday evening keynote address by Derecka Purnell, author of Becoming Abolitionists, and panel presentations on democracy, community safety, community health, and education on Friday evening throughout the day Saturday. Plus, attendees will have the opportunity to take in theater, live music, spoken word poetry, visual art and meditation.
All events free and open to the public and will be held in the Tinkham Veale University Center.
