Sixth graders to visit campus Nov. 8 for “Introduce a Girl to Science Day”; volunteers still needed

In addition to “Introduce a Girl to Science Day,” students at Monticello Middle School also take part in The Girls’ Science and Engineering Club, thanks to WISER.

Fifty female sixth grade students will be on campus Nov. 8 for “Introduce a Girl to Science Day,” sponsored by the Women in Science and Engineering Roundtable (WISER) and the Flora Stone Mather Center for Women.

From 9:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., students from Monticello Middle School and Citizens Leadership Academy will visit Nord Hall to participate in hands-on experiments in science labs. WISER members serve as “coaches” to these students throughout the day, and WISER handles all costs associated with the program, such as supplies, materials, food, transportation and admission fees.

Individuals interested in volunteering or learning more about the program should contact Heather C. Clayton Terry, associate director for Women in Science and Engineering, at hcc5@case.edu.
