Six dental students earn scholarships from Ohio Dental Association Foundation

The Ohio Dental Association Foundation (ODAF) awarded scholarships to six Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine students.

“These students have demonstrated a commitment to academic excellence and represent the future of the profession of dentistry,” said Billie Sue Kyger, chair of the foundation.

These scholarship recipients are among the top students in their classes and are active in many dental and non-dental volunteer activities. They meet criteria that include academic excellence, volunteerism and financial need.

Most of them plan to practice in Ohio after graduation and are committed to continued involvement in organized dentistry.

CWRU students receiving scholarships are:

  • Emily Booker of Willard, Ohio – $2,000
  • Zachary Christoff of Poland, Ohio – $5,000
  • Laura Martin of Kent, Ohio – $3,000
  • Allyson McClendon of Shaker Heights, Ohio – $5,000
  • Alyssa Rassi of Brooklyn Heights, Ohio – $2,000
  • Eric Soller of Youngstown, Ohio – $1,000

In total, ODAF awarded $68,500 in scholarships to 25 dental students at Case Western Reserve University and Ohio State University.

In addition to the scholarships, the Ohio Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Fund (a designated fund within ODAF) awarded a $1,500 grant to the oral and maxillofacial dental residency program at CWRU.

The Ohio Dental Association Foundation is largely supported by Ohio Dental Association member dentists and aims to improve the oral health of the citizens of Ohio and enhance the dental profession in the state.
