Sign up to be a mentor for the Mather Mentoring Program

The Flora Stone Mather Center for Women has revamped the Mather Mentoring Program and is seeking mentors for the 2021-22 academic year. The program pairs undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students with professionals based on career field (i.e., STEM, social sciences, humanities, arts, etc.).

The Mather Center is seeking mentors with professional experience in the arts, social sciences and humanities. 

In total, mentors will be expected to commit about nine hours to the Mather Mentoring Program between September 2021 and April 2022. Check out the mentoring program calendar below (specifically outlining mentor participation) to get an idea of the time commitment:

  • Wednesday, Sept. 29, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: Mentor training (virtual)
  • Wednesday, Oct. 13, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.: Mather Mentoring Program welcome
  • October: One-on-one meeting (set by mentor/mentee for about 30 minutes)
  • November: One-on-one meeting (set by mentor/mentee for about 30 minutes)
  • December: One-on-one meeting (set by mentor/mentee for about 30 minutes)
  • Wednesday, Jan. 12, from 2 to 3:30 p.m.: Mentor training (virtual)
  • February: One-on-one meeting (set by mentor/mentee for about 30 minutes)
  • March: : One-on-one meeting (set by mentor/mentee for about 30 minutes)
  • Thursday, April 21, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.: End-of-program celebration

Individuals are encouraged to share the opportunity with those they think may be interested in serving as a mentor.

Complete the mentor application form. The deadline to complete the form is Friday, Aug. 13, at 5 p.m.
