The Cleveland Hillel will host Shir Mnuchin, a descendent of a Jewish refugee from Iraq and herself a refugee of Syria, for a discussion on Jewish-Iraqi culture.
Mnuchin’s personal family background serves as a case study to examine how individuals portray their identities and why they must dig into the past and learn about their families to build their own identity.
The free, public lecture and movie screening will be held Thursday, Oct. 30, at 7:30 p.m. in the Hillel Building.
For more information, call 216.231.0040.
(Please note: Mnuchin also will speak at the Mandel Community Studies Center from 4 to 5 p.m. that day.)
