The St. Baldrick’s Foundation head-shaving event has become an annual spring ritual. On March 5, people will shave their heads in solidarity with children who have cancer and typically lose their hair during treatment while raising critical funds for childhood cancer research. At the March 2021 virtual event hosted by University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital and Case Western Reserve University, more than 87 people shaved their heads, raising $125,848.
The event will be held virtually again in 2022. Members of the community are invited to join a Zoom session to shave their heads together Saturday, March 5, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Though a virtual format for this event is not the same, it is still an opportunity to raise awareness of and funds for childhood cancer research. Even those who don’t want to share their heads can raise funds.
