Linda Ehrlich, associate professor emerita of modern languages and literatures, will return to Cleveland to introduce and answer questions after a screening of Hirokazu Kore-eda’s film Shoplifters (Manbiki Kazoku).
The screening will be held Monday, March 25, at 6:45 p.m. at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque. The film is rated R and has subtitles.
Tickets cost $11 or $8 for Cinematheque members, Cleveland Institute of Art, Cleveland State University and Case Western Reserve University ID holders, and those 25 years old and under.
The Case Western Reserve University Department of Modern Languages and Literatures and Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque will co-sponsor the screening.

Shoplifters, Kore-eda’s latest feature, is a touching, humanistic tale of a three-generation family of thieves—a crime movie full of charm, humor, suspense and surprises.
The film was the winner of the top prize at last year’s Cannes Film Festival and a 2019 Oscar nominee for Best Foreign Language Film.
