Screening of Aftershock

Aftershock is a documentary that follows two families who galvanize activists, birth-workers, and physicians after the preventable deaths of their loved ones due to childbirth complications.

The Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative will host a screening of the documentary in recognition of Maternal Health Awareness Day Monday, Jan. 23, from noon to 1 p.m. via Zoom.

According to the CDC, more than 80% of maternal deaths in the United States are preventable. This year’s Maternal Health Awareness Day theme is centered on knowing why these deaths are happening as a first step in preventing them.

Members of the Case Western Reserve University community are invited to participate in this virtual screening and debrief to encourage researchers to explore health disparities through translational science and add to the body of knowledge that helps us know why and do better.

Register for the screening.
