Science Cafe Cleveland – “You Won’t Miss It Until It’s Gone: The Critical Role of Fat in Skin Fibrosis”

Skin is the body’s largest organ and upholds a myriad of functions essential to the body’s health and healing processes. In this month’s Science Cafe Cleveland event, Radhika Atit of CWRU’s department of biology discusses skin as an organ, the role that skin’s fat cells play in scar formation, and how existing FDA-approved drugs may be repurposed for treating fibrosis.

In her lecture “You Won’t Miss It Until It’s Gone: The Critical Role of Fat in Skin Fibrosis”, Atit will explore the formation of scar tissue and how it differs from original tissue. Atit’s talk will take place Monday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. (EST).Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Science Café Cleveland will be online this month.
