Rendering of Earth from space

Science Café Cleveland: “How the Earth’s Inner Core Formed”

While much attention is focused on the mysteries of deep space, there is an equally intriguing mystery closer to home, but in the opposite direction: deep underground. One particular mystery arose about 80 years ago, when it was discovered that Earth has a small, solid nugget of iron at its center—the inner core.

James Van Orman, professor and chair of the Department of Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences, and Steven A. Hauck, II, professor of earth, environmental and planetary sciences, will discuss the Earth’s inner core at the September Science Café Cleveland.

The event will take place Monday, Sept. 10, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Music Box Supper Club (1148 Main Ave.).

Case Western Reserve University’s chapter of Sigma Xi, WCPN ideastream and the Music Box Supper Club sponsor Science Café Cleveland.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m and limited menu options will be available for purchase.
