Arresting a parent in front of a child has lifelong impact, officers learn
The Plain Dealer: Gabriella Celeste-Cohen, policy director at the Schubert Center for Child Studies, discussed the impact watching a parent get arrested can have on a child. “Not only do they worry deeply for their parent but often their own life is turned around and filled with uncertainty, confusion and even self-blaming at times,” she said. “Having a trusted adult to comfort a child and help them navigate this experience to lessen the potential harm is key.”
