Editor’s Note: As of June 30, 2019, Case Western Reserve uses Rave Guardian. CWRU Shield is no longer active and should be deleted from all mobile devices. Download Rave Guardian on the App Store and Google Play.
At this time of year, the sun sets earlier and students can be out studying later. With this in mind, Campus Security would like to share a few safety tips.
On-campus safety tips:
- Use Safe Ride, an after-hours service (7 p.m. to 3 a.m.) in which security officers pick up riders to take them to their destination.
- To take a Safe Ride, call 216.368.3000, visit saferide.case.edu or download the smartphone app by searching “Ride Cell” in the Apple App Store or Google Play.
- Take shuttles.
- Track shuttles at case.edu/access-services/shuttles/shuttle-tracking/ or by using the TransLoc app.
- Walk in groups after dark.
- If you’re alone, CWRU police offer walking escorts 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Call 216.368.3300 to request a walking escort.
- Report suspicious activity to CWRU police by calling 216.368.3300.
- If you believe someone has tailgated you into a building, call 216.368.3333.
- Use CWRU Shield, the free smartphone application that helps Case Western Reserve University police respond to emergency situations quickly and with more accuracy.
- Download the app in the Apple App Store and in Google Play.
Tips for traveling to the airport, train or bus station:
- Travel in groups, especially at night.
- Sit near the driver.
- Pull the cord on buses if something is wrong.
- Call Safe Rides to get to and from transit stops.
There will be fewer people on campus as finals week continues, but the CWRU police department is always available. If you see any suspicious activity or feel unsafe, call 216.368.3333.
