The way we work and live today demands students are adaptable to communicating using a variety of new media forms. While the traditional term paper remains a staple of academic output, alternate assignments can challenge students intellectually and creatively. They have the potential to motivate and energize both students and instructors by taking a fresh approach to research assignments. They also provide students the opportunity to learn a new platform for presenting ideas and write for a different audience.
Faculty members are invited to hear from a panel on alternatives to term papers Tuesday, March 19, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Kelvin Smith Library’s Freedman Center for Digital Scholarships (Room 105).
During the event, titled “Rethinking Research: Faculty Panel on Alternatives to the Research Paper,” Einav Rabinovitch-Fox, Kristine Kelly and Matthew Kucmanic will share their research assignment alternatives to the term paper and discuss some of the challenges and successes.
Lunch will be provided.
