Residency in a pandemic: How COVID-19 is affecting trainees
American Medical Association: Salomeh “Sally” Salari, a first-year obstetrics and gynecology resident, was featured for the unique position of medical residents like her amid America’s COVID-19 pandemic; while they are physicians, trainees and are developing clinician skills, they do so in a healthcare environment requiring dramatic daily adjustments and uncertainty: “There are a lot of periods of time when things feel normal,” said Salari, “Until we got a patient [in the hospital] under investigation [for COVID-19], then everybody got a little stir crazy.”
