Members of the Case Western Reserve University community are invited to join the Baker-Nord Center for the Humanities for a panel discussion titled “Representation and Reflections: Historical Cycles of Student Protest and University Engagement” Wednesday, Sept. 25, from 4 to 5 p.m. in Clark Hall, Room 206.
This panel discussion will explore the histories and legacies of student protest movements and campus engagement from national and global perspectives. Panelists will share their experiences working with multiple communities across complex issues and add context and curiosity to the national conversation and emphasize useful paths forward.
The panelists are:
- Roseann “Chic” Canfora, an eyewitness and survivor of the historic Kent State University shootings on May 4, 1970, a professor of journalism at Kent State and stalwart advocate for May 4 remembrance and for the importance of connecting the lessons of the anti-war movement to emerging movements today; and
- Aysegul Keskin Zeren, a conflict resolution and non-violent communication specialist who teaches conflict resolution and human rights courses as an adjunct assistant professor in the political science department at CWRU.
