Washington Post (subscription required): Joy Bostic, associate professor of Religious Studies, weighed in on a discussion on modern “sex positivity,” particularly among those in the Christian faith. Bostic pointed to the Old Testament text of The Song of Solomon, where the female narrator speaks of her lover. “These lovers are not mentioned as being married; they’re not in the same household,” she said. “This text, which is an official part of the Bible, echoes medieval mystics, who talk a great deal about spiritual ecstasy as akin to sexual ecstasy.”
