Relay for Life 2012 changes times to be more family-friendly; registration now open

Major changes are coming to Relay for Life in 2012. For starters, the time: Rather than being a primarily nighttime event—historically taking place Friday evening through Saturday morning—the event will now run Saturday afternoon to Sunday morning. The 2012 event will begin April 21 at 1 p.m. and close April 22at 6:30 a.m. The new times are intended to increase faculty and staff involvement and create a more family-friendly event, complete with activities, games and contests.

Additionally, this year’s event will focus more on the team experience. Organizers are planning new initiatives for teams, including a banner contest and encouraging teams to create a theme to embrace throughout the event and to sponsor a survivor, who will be celebrated during the Survivor Lap and during the Survivor and Caregiver luncheon.
