Register now for inaugural meeting of the Asian Faculty Association

With broad and diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds, Asian faculty members bring exceptional perspective and tremendous value to Case Western Reserve and the surrounding Cleveland community. As the number of Asian faculty at CWRU increases, so does the need for resources to address the particular challenges for their career development and growth, a concern highlighted by a recent campuswide faculty satisfaction survey. To address these needs, an organizing committee of faculty members has initiated an effort to establish a CWRU Asian Faculty Association (AFA).

Led by Man-Sun Sy, professor of pathology; Li Li, professor of medicine; and Sanjay Gupta, professor of urology, the Asian Faculty Association aims to provide a formal networking platform for Asian faculty to foster their personal and professional growth, and increase campuswide awareness of issues specific to the Asian faculty community.

All CWRU faculty, regardless of ethnicity, are invited to attend the AFA inaugural annual meeting Friday, June 3, from 3:30 to 6 p.m. at the Iris S. and Bert L. Wolstein Research Building auditorium.

The meeting will start at 3:30 p.m. with registration and a mixer, followed by the formal meeting at 4 p.m. and a wine and cheese reception at 5 p.m.

To attend the Inaugural Meeting, RSVP by May 31 at case.edu/facultydevelopment/faculty-life/asian-faculty-association/.

Those with questions or concerns can contact the Office of Faculty Development at 216.368.2464 or amanda.shaffer@case.edu.

The AFA meeting is sponsored by the Office of Faculty Development and co-sponsored by the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Office of Inclusion, Diversity, and Equal Opportunity, and the Flora Stone Mather Center for Women.
