“The Religious Exoticism of Transformational Festivals”

The Department of Religious Studies will host the Ratner Family Lecture on the topic “The Religious Exoticism of Transformational Festivals” on Wednesday, March 4, at 4:30 p.m. in Ballroom C of the Tinkham Veale University Center.

Amanda Lucia, author of forthcoming book White Utopias, will present the lecture. Lucia’s lecture will discuss the history of spiritual festivals such as Burning Man, Bhakti Fest, and Wanderlust and disseminate the racial relationships and overwhelming whiteness associated with these events.

The lecture is free and open to the public and will be followed by a reception.
