Brooke Macnamara, assistant professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences, wrote an op-ed for AllOnGeorgia, a Georgia-based site for news, politics and editorial commentary.
The piece, titled “Do growth mindset interventions work?” discusses the problems with mindset theory—the notion that a student’s idea of their intelligence’s stability impacts his or her effort. In her op-ed, Macnamara explains the study that she and colleagues conducted that challenges the theory.
