Prominent critic to discuss Cuban cinema during Feb. 10 lecture

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures invites will host Cuban scholar and author Juan Antonio Garcia Borrero, who will talk about Cuban cinema today. The lecture, “Para una nueva historia del cine cubano: Toward a new history of the Cuban cinema” will be held Feb. 10 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. in Clark Hall 309.

García Borrero is the most prominent critic of current Cuban cinema and is a scholar, professor and author of nine books on the topic. His visit is the first step toward the creation of a repository of Cuban cinema at Case Western Reserve University (thanks to the support of a Nord grant from UCITE).
